This business vehicle loan calculator estimates the monthly payment, total interest and total cost including the down payment from a vehicle's price, down payment, interest rate and term. Goldwell Commercial Capital, a small-business funding broker in Medford, Oregon, offers it to Rogue Valley contractors as an arithmetic check only, not an offer or a prediction of what a partner will quote.
What goes in each box
- Price: the agreed price of the van, pickup, utility body or trailer, plus any upfitting you plan to finance.
- Down payment: cash you will put in, or a trade-in value you have already subtracted by hand.
- Rate: the annual interest rate printed on an offer, or a figure you want to test.
- Term: how many monthly payments the deal runs for.
The calculator shows the monthly payment, the total interest over the term and the total cost of the vehicle including the down payment.
Work vehicle costs to handle by hand
Shelving, ladder racks, a utility body or a lift gate are often quoted separately from the chassis. If you plan to finance them, add them to the price before entering it. Titling, registration and insurance are not part of the calculation; the partner will tell you how the vehicle must be titled and what insurance it requires, and those costs come on top. If a trade-in is involved, subtract its agreed value from the price or enter it as the down payment, not both.
Check the arithmetic yourself
Multiply the monthly payment by the number of payments and add the down payment; the result should match the total cost shown. Subtract the price and you have the total interest. Do the same with any offer. If the offer's total is higher than your own sum, ask what the difference pays for.
Things this vehicle calculator ignores
- Lease payments and buyouts; for a lease, ask the lessor for the total of all payments plus the buyout.
- Weekly or daily payment schedules; convert those by hand.
- Taxes, titling, insurance, fuel and maintenance.
- Any prediction of what a partner will offer.
Why Jackson County, OR contractors start here
County Business Patterns counted 884 construction employers in Jackson County in 2023, with 68.9 percent running under five employees (U.S. Census Bureau). For a crew that size, a van or pickup can be the biggest purchase of the year, and knowing the monthly figure first keeps the conversation short. Partners do not fund trucking companies; vehicles that serve a trade business are what this calculator is framed for. Equipment financing explains loans, leases and finance agreements, contractor and construction financing covers the rest of a contractor's funding, and the resources hub lists the other guides.
